Job Description
Yale-NUS College is a highly selective liberal arts and science college in Singapore. Co-founded by Yale University and the National University of Singapore, the College is committed to excellence in research and teaching in a full residential programme that integrates living and learning. Its curriculum educates students in Asian and Western intellectual traditions as well as current scientific thought. A student body of 1000 undergraduates from over 70 countries engages with 100 outstanding faculty from around the world through small classes and hands-on research. Students and faculty also have access to the wider resources of two world-leading research universities.
The goal of this project is to investigate and develop computer algorithms that can automatically detect/localise vehicles and humans as well as to recognise their colours from videos, which are degraded by nighttime, low-light, and rain conditions. The duty of the research engineering is to help the team to accomplish the goal by completing the milestones through his/her research. Concretely, the milestones include setting-up cameras, data collection, algorithm development, implementation/coding, experimenting/analysing the developed algorithms, and writing reports. While publishing papers in top international conferences/journals is not compulsory, it is strongly encouraged. The research engineer also has responsibilities to work together with the principal investigator as well as with the lab members.
