About the role

Gnibi College of Indigenous Australian Peoples is an integral part of Southern Cross University and has a pivotal role in offering undergraduate and postgraduate courses and undertaking research within the discipline of Indigenous Knowledge. Gnibi College is committed to delivering culturally safe, dynamic and innovative courses, providing professional career pathways, and engaging in scholarship and research relevant to the needs of Indigenous Australians.

Gnibi College’s work is founded on the Gnibi Elders Principles and those of social justice, cultural integrity and inclusion in education. This is achieved by providing a learning and research environment that validates an Indigenous cultural framework, affirms Indigenous Knowledge systems and focuses upon theory building and practice innovation.

The Associate Professor in Indigenous Knowledge will lead innovative undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, research, service and engagement in Indigenous Knowledge within the College. The appointee will also play a key role in engaging the region’s Indigenous communities in the College activities.

A remuneration package of up to $188,255 per annum is available for this role, inclusive of base salary $146,199-$160,902 per annum and 17% employer's contribution to superannuation.

About you

This is an Indigenous identified position. Applicants must identify as an Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.

We are seeking interest from successful Indigenous Knowledge academics who have a proven track record of enhancing student learning outcomes and a demonstrated commitment to the ongoing pursuit of excellence in research within the discipline.

With extensive academic experience, you will have proven success in driving the success of Indigenous Knowledge programs using contemporary educational technologies in both blended and online environments. You will have a strong track record of providing leadership in teaching, curriculum planning, development and implementation and educational administration, you will have the ability to meet challenges with innovation, new perspectives and a solutions-based approach.

You will have an established reputation and proven track record of excellence in research relevant to Indigenous Knowledge and Indigenous Research methodologies, as evidenced by research grants and publication output, including publications in highly ranked journals.
