LABORATORY MANAGER (TECHNICIAN)

in Stem Cell and Developmental Biology.

The new staff member will have a central role in managing and organizing day-to-day operations in the Wickström Laboratory. The successful candidate will work together with researchers using basic molecular biology, cell culture and histology techniques. In addition, the work includes organizational tasks such as managing the experimental animal colony using an electronic database (PROVET), the networking with local distributors and service providers, negotiating offers for consumables and (small) lab equipment as well as communicating with authorities (e.g. the GMO board or the Finnish customs).

The Wickström lab is world-renown for its research on tissue stem cell mechanics and stem cell niche biology. The lab continues to develop and apply cutting-edge high-throughput techniques to address questions regarding the roles of mechanical forces in cell fate decisions, tissue morphogenesis, and diseases such as cancer.

We expect experience in an applicable field of biomedical sciences, accuracy, reliability, and proficiency in spoken Finnish and English. Experience in molecular biology (PCR and cloning) and everyday wet lab applications, as well as understanding of basic biomedicine methods are highly appreciated.

The appointment will be for 16 months starting in August 2021 with a possibility to extension. Trial period of 6 months will be applied. Salary will depend upon the applicant's level of prior experience and skillset, approximately 2800 to 3200€ per month.
