The University of the West of Scotland (UWS) has been named the top young higher education institution in Scotland in the Times Higher Education Young University Rankings (2020). The School of Health and Life Sciences is a multidisciplinary School where teaching and research are at the heart of all activities. A diverse range of programmes are delivered at our Ayr, Dumfries, Lanarkshire, London and Paisley campuses to a combined total of around 6400 students from over 60 countries.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lecturer in Health to join the Division of Midwifery & Specialist Nursing. The successful academic will become part of a progressive team making a significant contribution to the further development of health-related education programmes in line with the national Clinical Academic Career Pathways. The successful candidate will need previous experience of delivering modules/programmes within health-related fields and will be practised in contemporary teaching, learning and assessment methods. Delivery of programmes will be across the Division of Midwifery & Specialist Nursing and the wider School. The ability to contribute to module and programme development will be integral to this post and NMC professional registration is required. Typical health-related students are usually clinicians or allied health professionals taking further studies to enhance their knowledge and skills and/or advance their careers in NHS/external organisations. There will be an expectation to engage in wider academic activities such as CPD, or other enterprise research-related opportunities for income generation.
The Lanarkshire campus creates a truly innovative, dynamic and collaborative environment. This base campus hosts inspiring, and flexible learning and teaching spaces packed with rich technology to offer staff and students access to some of the most modern university facilities in the UK. UWS is committed to providing an inclusive working environment. UWS has an Athena SWAN bronze award, is a two-ticks employer and welcomes other under-represented groups, and as such we particularly encourage applications to support our diversity agenda.
