Professor / Associate Professor Midwifery
The Faculty of Health and Life Sciences strives to be excellent in teaching, research and innovation in Midwifery. We are seeking an outstanding and inspiring individual to join our successful and highly committed team of academic staff who can contribute to the Department of Nursing, Midwifery and Health. We are seeking candidates with a breadth of experience in Midwifery. You will be expected to help drive research, innovation and teaching excellence in the Department within the subject discipline of Midwifery. The role will also incorporate a portfolio of significant leadership responsibility within the Departmental Management Group.
You must hold a first degree and be qualified to Doctoral level in a relevant discipline and have leading subject expertise in Midwifery with specialist knowledge gained through research activity, professional practice or consultancy. Proven ability to deliver high quality research led teaching within Midwifery and a publication profile commensurate with the post of Professor/ Associate Professor are essential. Registration with the UK Nursing and Midwifery Council is highly desirable. You will provide expertise to further enhance research and entrepreneurial activities. This will include undertaking individual and joint research to produce quality academic outputs and inform teaching and participating in external activity to generate income and promote the subject.
You must possess excellent knowledge of the development and contemporary aspects of midwifery practice. Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (UK) Part 1 is highly desirable. You must hold a Master’s degree or be either qualified to Doctoral level or be willing to study for a Doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline. You need to have subject expertise with specialist knowledge gained through research activity, professional practice or consultancy. An ability to deliver high quality, research rich teaching within nursing and a growing publication profile are desirable.
Part-time and Secondment arrangements may be considered.
