The Faculty of Veterinary Science, as the only faculty of its kind in the country, has a unique responsibility in training all veterinarians and veterinary nurses as well as conducting relevant and high impact research. The Faculty is looking for someone to manage the comprehensive general enquiries service to students and staff of the Faculty with the following responsibilities:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Controlling and monitoring of student account services, bursaries and loans, client relations, and residence placement;
  • Ensuring that correct procedures and policies are followed regarding access cards and parking for personnel, students and contractors;
  • The receipt, checking, controlling and safe keeping of money;
  • Controlling of the Faculty’s switchboard,
  • Leadership in Client Service and Service Excellence; and
  • Staff management.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or tertiary qualification; and
  • 4 years’ experience of students’ services and support, including bursaries, loans, general enquiries and residence infrastructure, including 3 years’ experience in financial administration/accounting.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):

  • Advanced knowledge of the procedures and policy requirements of the NSFAS, Provincial and any other bursaries;
  • Advanced knowledge of the admission process of undergraduate degree studies;
  • Experience in advising prospective students and external stake holders on programmes, future studies, bursaries and NSFAS;
  • Advanced knowledge of University policies and regulations;
  • Advanced communication skills, written; and
  • Knowledge residence infrastructure.

ADDED ADVANTAGE:

  • Knowledge of the PeopleSoft system.

The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent’s level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED and or UMVUZO medical aid scheme and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
