About the opportunity

The Senior Process Engineer: Quantum Technologies / Process Engineer: Quantum Technologies will operate a range of equipment within the Research & Prototype Foundry and support ANFF-NSW node integration. The incumbent will provide sound advice and expert technical support for the capability area and will have the opportunity to enable cross-facility utilisation by researchers, staff, students, and industry, by providing the full-service, assisted and self-service models of RPF services.

They will ensure that their area of the facility is properly maintained that all equipment is functioning correctly, and that preventative and reactive work/maintenance protocols are in place for their equipment. In addition, they will ensure that the relevant Work, Health and Safety standards of their capability area are met and are aligned to the University's WHS policy.

The role is being offered at HEO 7 and HEO 8, depending on the skills and experience of the successful candidate.

  • a degree in Science or Engineering and substantial relevant experience
  • experience in the application of micro and nanofabrication, ideally in the field of quantum science and technology
  • high level interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strategic relationships with relevant stakeholders, staff, users, supervisors, and equipment suppliers
  • experience in the use and maintenance of scientific instrumentation in a multiuser facility, including considering longer term outlooks for emerging instruments and/or techniques
  • a focus on safety, including the preparation of risk assessments and safe work procedures, and experience applying and abiding by WHS legislative requirements

To be considered at HEO 8 level, the candidate should also have:

  • Relevant postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications
  • Experience in managing, supervising, and mentoring staff
  • Ability to provide strategic support and advice to the Managers and Directors with regard to RPF capabilities

The commencement level will be determined based on the candidate's skills, experience, and knowledge.
