The role

We are seeking an outstanding individual to join our world-class academics in He Rau Kawakawa (School of Pharmacy) at the University of Otago, in Te Wai Pounamu.

This is a full-time confirmation appointment at Lecturer or Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor level, in the area of Pharmacoepidemiology, Pharmacy Practice or Clinical Pharmacy. Appointment to the position of Lecturer or Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor is dependent on academic achievement, skills and experience.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Bringing research informed expertise to the School of Pharmacy.
  • Leading innovation and research informed teaching in area of expertise.
  • Contributing to teaching in the pharmacy undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
  • Providing support and advice for current and prospective educational technologies.
  • Establishing and conducting an active research programme.

Applicants should also have demonstrated excellence - or potential to develop excellence - in research and teaching application of skills to enable best health outcomes.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this key role you will have:

  • A PhD degree in a relevant area or hold a similar level clinical qualification with evidence of research experience.
  • Preferably have a pharmacy qualification registrable in New Zealand.
  • Experience in designing and delivering in-person and online instructional workshops, training modules, and tutorials.
  • Teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels.
  • Leadership and team-building abilities.
  • Good communication skills and an ability to work co-operatively with others.
  • Commitment to Te Reo Māori, Tikanga Māori and the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi.
  • Demonstrated capacity for independent research and a good record of publications in refereed journals.
