Job Description

We are currently seeking a highly motivated researcher to perform research related to theoretical and numerical modellings in low-Reynolds-number viscoelastic/multiphase fluid-structure interactions. The successful applicant is expected to build and utilize computational tools, or develop theoretical models to unravel the physical mechanisms underlying the experimental observations, and is responsible for conducting high quality research, writing academic papers and collaborating with other researchers. We focus on studying the behavior of flexible structures, including capsule/vesicle, droplet/bubble and filaments/fibers/sheets immersed in the viscous/viscoelastic fluids, as well as its applications in the microfluids, microrobots, etc. The project not only aims to unravel the underlying physics, but also explores and develops innovative strategies that would inform new, advanced engineering designs.

Qualifications

The successful applicant should have a PhD degree in the related fields from internationally recognized universities.

Skills:

  • A good knowledge of fluid dynamics and multiphase flow is essential;
  • Much experience in coding in Fortran/C/C++ and high-performance computing is necessary;
  • Experience in phase-filed method is preferred;
  • Experience in modelling on interfacial evolution, viscoelastic/multiphase fluid transport phenomena in nano/micro porous media, etc.;
  • Good publication records on high impact peer-reviewed journals;
  • Working/Studying experiences in English-speaking countries for one year or more are appreciated;
  • Good communication and team working skills with the ability to present research findings are required.
