  • Exciting opportunity for a Post-doctoral Research Fellow to conduct research to join NHMRC Synergy grant SOLVE-CHD in cardiac rehabilitation and secondary prevention of coronary heart disease
  • Located at Camperdown or Westmead Campus within the Sydney Nursing School, Faculty of Medicine and Health
  • 2 x 0.5FTE fixed term for 12 months, with possibility of extension, offering a base salary from $96K p.a., (pro rata)plus leave loading and generous employer's contribution to superannuation

About the opportunity

Join the NHMRC Synergy Grant APP1182301 by solving the long-standing evidence-practice gap associated with cardiac rehabilitation and secondary prevention of coronary heart disease (SOLVE-CHD). This is a national multidisciplinary approach and includes researchers and clinicians with allied health, nursing, cardiology, public health, health economics and psychology backgrounds (www.solvechd.org.au) The program of work for this Synergy Grant - one of just a handful awarded nationwide - covers the development and use of new technologies, better collection, and use of data and improving access to prevention for all Australians with heart disease.

This position presents an outstanding opportunity for an ambitious early career researcher who seeks to progress their career and work in a supportive, creative, flexible research environment. You will work with the Chief Investigators of SOLVE-CHD and be encouraged to pursue education and development opportunities pertinent to your role and research interests.

About you

  • a recent doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline (medicine or health), cross disciplinary interests and applicants with existing fellowship will be highly regarded
  • willingness to conduct research projects listed on SOLVE-CHD priority areas or closely related themes aligned with the SOLVE-CHD objectives
  • excellent interpersonal skills that will enable networking across a range of stakeholder groups and maintaining collaborative working relationships
  • high level written and oral communication and presentation skills.
  • manuscript preparation skills with an excellent track record of peer-reviewed publications in relevant field
  • the ability to work independently, conceive, initiate, organize and manage projects
  • experience with funding applications for research grants and/or research fellowships
  • high levels of motivation and the ambition to develop a research career in relevant discipline.
