The role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced HR Officer (Coordinator/Administrator) to work on a part time basis within our HR team.  This role will be integral to supporting the Industrial Relations Business Partner in the development and maintenance of our recognised Trade Union relationships and activity across the University and will provide comprehensive and confidential administrative support to the wider Client Services Team and their customers. The role is available on a part time permanent basis (0.7 FTE). The successful applicant must have skill level equivalent to achievement of HNC, A-Level, NVQ3 with proven work experience acquired in relevant roles and job-related training.

Main duties include:

  • The co-ordination of diaries, arranging and servicing meetings, filtering problems and enquiries, drafting and preparation of documentation and organisation of events between management and the University’s recognised Trade Unions.
  • To provide confidential administrative support to the HR Client Services Team.  This will include the coordination and servicing of team meetings, handling sensitive and complex information and liaison with other senior and executive level managers within the University.
  • Working closely with the Industrial Relations Business Partner to ensure formal meetings between the University senior and executive management and the three recognised Trade Unions is effectively organised in adherence to the Terms of Reference, where necessary producing timely and accurate minutes and supporting the Industrial Relations Business Partner in the progression and following up of actions.

What we are looking for:

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in Human Resources, specifically in an officer, co-ordinator or administrative role and ideally have an understanding of Employee Relations policies and procedures. Excellent planning and prioritising skills are essential, as is the ability to assess and appropriately manage risk and identify and solve problems by applying judgement and initiative. You must be proficient with MS Office especially Word and Excel, with an eye for accuracy and detail.

The ability to deal with sensitive issues and information discreetly and to communicate effectively at all levels within an organisation is essential for this role.
