Salary: Level B $105,232 - $124,958 p.a. (pro rata) or Level C $128,903 – $148,630 p.a. (pro rata), plus 17% superannuation. Level of appointment is subject to the appointee's qualifications and experience.
The Faculty of Fine Arts and Music at the University of Melbourne is home to the Victorian College of the Arts and the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. The Role: This is a teaching and research role, which will contribute to the Producing program within Film and TV, including screen and story development, production management across a variety of production types and platforms and practical production of student screen projects. The incumbent will teach at both postgraduate and undergraduate levels, include into the Bachelor of Fine Arts and will also be expected to supervise honours and postgraduate students.
This is a full-time role, however we are open to the possibility of a reduced time fraction arrangement with two 0.5 FTE appointments.
The Team: The Film and Television discipline brings together a dynamic and experienced team responsible for teaching programmes that are engaging, professionally relevant and of exceptional quality to undergraduate and post-graduate level. In collaboration with the rest of the Faculty and University, Film and Television strive for unique opportunities for growth and development in best teaching practice and research. In Film and Television, you will actively participate in coordinating subjects and programs and have a direct hand in contributing to the reputation of a tier one research University. You will report directly to the Head of Film and Television and will work closely with other academic and professional staff.
You: You are an active, well respected industry professional and an experienced academic who can work with academic colleagues and professional staff to develop an engaged and stimulating teaching program, that will attract the best talent to the Faculty. You will hold a PhD (or equivalent professional practice), have a demonstrated understanding of Australian screen industry initiatives and trends and have significant understanding of the research environment in the field including current debates and practices.
Location: Based in the beautiful Southbank Campus of The University of Melbourne, you will work nestled amongst Melbourne’s major arts and cultural organisations and venues. You will have the convenience of great transport links to the rest of the city with the serenity of the Botanical Gardens close by.
