Professor and Head of Sport Science

Nottingham Trent University

Competitive Salary and Benefits

Guardian University of the Year 2019; Times and Sunday Times Modern University of the Year 2018; THE 2017 University of the Year; these are just some of the accolades bestowed upon Nottingham Trent University. We are focused on ‘Creating the University of the Future’, transforming the lives of our students and, through them, the world in which we live.

With over 70 members of staff and 1,000 students, our Department of Sport Science has a long and established history for delivering sport-related programmes. Investment in people and facilities is a cornerstone to our success; facilities include six well-equipped physiology laboratories, the British Olympic Association approved environmental chamber, a newly opened sport and exercise psychology laboratory, the recently refurbished performance analysis suite and two biomechanics and neuromuscular performance laboratories.

Our Sport, Health and Physical Enhancement Research Centre combines expertise from staff in Sport Science, Sport Engineering and Biosciences to form a critical mass of researchers within specialisms that are internationally excellent and have societal, sporting and economic impact. Interdisciplinary working is critical and there are excellent collaborative opportunities with colleagues in Biosciences including the John Van Geest Cancer Research Centre, Chemistry and Forensics, Computer Science, Engineering and in Mathematics and Physics.

We are seeking to appoint a new Head to continue to lead the Department towards international excellence. As our Head you will work collegially in ensuring that our diverse and large student cohort reach their potential and, with a focus on career progression of the team, an important part of your leadership brief will be the support of their roles, whether this be in encouraging our upward research trajectory or developing teaching and practice pathways.
