At TU Dresden, Faculty of Psychology the Institute of Work, Organizational and Social Psychology invites applications for the

Chair (W2) of Social Psychology

(with tenure track to W3)

to be filled from April 1, 2022, initially as a fixed-term position for five years. As part of the appointment, evaluation criteria are defined consensually and the evaluation by a cross-faculty and cross-departmental commission will take place at least one year before the end of the temporary W2 position. After a successful tenure evaluation, the candidate will be appointed to a permanent Chair (W3) of Social Psychology. Essential components of the evaluation are scientific success in terms of the quality and quantity of publications, active participation in larger collaborative projects within and outside the faculty and university (e.g., excellence cluster application), success in obtaining third-party funding and promoting young researchers as well as a positively evaluated teaching performance.

The chair is responsible for teaching social psychology in the study programs Bachelor of Psychology and Masters in Psychology: Human Performance in Socio-Technical-Systems (HPSTS) as well as in teacher training. With respect to research, the focus should be on experimental social psychology and a collaboration with all three research focuses of the Faculty of Psychology. The chair fulfills an important bridging function to the emerging fields “Neurosciences” and “Societal Change” of the Excellence Strategy, which are to be expanded with priority. An active participation in interdisciplinary projects is explicitly desired. The Faculty of Psychology attaches importance to transparent and replicable research and supports these goals through open data, open material and pre-registrations. We expect your willingness and ability to conduct courses in German and English, as well as the active participation in academic self-administration. Applicants must fulfill the employment qualification requirements of § 58 of the Act on the Autonomy of Institutions of Higher Education in the Free State of Saxony (SächsHSFG).
