Macquarie University, School of Education is seeking an experienced academic for a teaching and research position with a focus on secondary school social sciences curriculum.

THE ROLE

  • Salary Package:  Lecturer (Level B), from $108,111 to $127,913 p.a. or Senior Lecturer (Level C), from $132,004 to $151,806 p.a. plus 17% employer's superannuation and annual leave loading.
  • Appointment Type: Full-time, continuing

Macquarie University, School of Education is seeking an experienced Academic (Lecturer or Senior Lecturer) for a teaching and research position with a focus on secondary school social sciences curriculum and methodology units for Economics/Business Studies and/or Geography. The successful applicant will engage in an active research program and supervise research students, contribute to curriculum development and teaching across the School of Education's undergraduate and postgraduate programs, engage in service activities within the University and their professional community, and contribute to the School's outreach activities.

About You

You will have completed a PhD or evidence of equivalent recognition in secondary school education.  You will have a good track record of delivering high quality learning and teaching at an undergraduate and postgraduate level and have excellent leadership experience in Economics/Business Studies, Social Sciences and/or Geography.  Experience teaching in secondary classroom environments is essential. You will have a program of research (preferably school-based) with a track record of quality publications. Selection Criteria for Lecturer - Level B applicants:

  • A PhD or evidence of equivalent research recognition in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience teaching Economics/Business Studies and/or Geography in secondary classroom environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in quality research/scholarship, which may be evidenced by publications and/or success in attracting research support.
  • Demonstrated success in teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level including the ability to develop scholarly and innovative approaches to teaching and learning.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise higher degree research students.
  • Record of contributing, or capacity to contribute, to administration in a University or professional setting and to interact within these settings.
  • Record of enhancing, or capacity to enhance, the University's reputation through engagement with relevant external stakeholders.

Selection Criteria for Senior Lecturer- Level C applicants:

  • A PhD or evidence of equivalent research recognition in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience teaching Economics/Business Studies and/or Geography in secondary classroom environments.
  • A well-articulated research agenda and a track record of publications in high quality journals.
  • Demonstrated ability to secure research funding.
  • Demonstrated academic knowledge in the discipline and ability to develop and lead scholarly and innovative approaches to teaching and learning.
  • Record of contributing, or capacity to contribute, to administration in a University or a professional setting and to interact meaningfully within these settings.
  • Experience with research student supervision.

This position may require a Working with Children Check Clearance.

This position requires a current and valid Working with Children Check Clearance for NSW.  You may also have to satisfy Macquarie University that you meet all background checks (including criminal record and qualification checks).
