Looking to work on new types of optical fibre?

This is an ideal opportunity to be involved with research into flexible planar optics. Conceptually fabricated in a similar way to commercial optical fibre – this new planar geometry offers new functionalities for photonics.

You will be working at the world renowned Optoelectronics Research Centre, with access to cutting-edge nanofabrication and photonics fabrication facilities and interacting with colleagues that are leaders in their field.

To be successful you will have a PhD* or equivalent professional qualifications in either: photonics; physics; engineering (mechanical, aerospace) or electronics and computer science. You will require excellent communication skills and the proven ability both in writing and verbal for formal reporting. It is essential you are able to demonstrate initiative in problem solving and able to work independently under your own initiative.

This post is offered on a full-time, fixed term basis for 12 months.

You will be working under the supervision of Dr Christopher Holmes and closely with industry collaborators.
