Research Engineer, Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering

Job Description

Multiple positions are available for Research Assistants and/or Research Fellows (Post-doctoral Fellows) in the laboratory of Dr. Soh Siow Ling, at the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, National University of Singapore (NUS).

The general theme of the research in the laboratory involves functional polymers for a diverse range of applications. One project involves the fabrication of non-charging polymers for eliminating the undesirable effects of static charge (e.g., sparks). This project involves collaboration with companies for producing non-charging materials with specific practical applications (e.g., for food, pharmaceutical processes, electronic components, and many others). In general, there is the possibility of working on different types of projects in the laboratory related to “smart” materials and programmable systems in the field of polymers and soft materials.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate is preferably a material scientist, chemist, engineer (e.g., chemical, mechanical, etc), or a researcher in a related field. The candidate should have a relevant Bachelor (as a Research Assistant) or Ph.D. (as a Research Fellow) degree. Candidates must have good hands-on skills in experimental work, are independent in research, and have good problem-solving skills. Good technical communication skills are a plus. Candidates who have applied before to our laboratory are encouraged to apply again.
