Job Description

The National University of Singapore invites applications for Research Assistant for “Mechanistic study of therapy-resistance in gynaeoncology and its clinical application in molecular prognosis and novel therapeutic strategy” in the Department of Biochemistry, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine with collaboration with clinician scientists in National Cancer Science Institute, Singapore and National university Hospital. Appointments will be made on a  one-year contract basis from 1 May 2021, and can be renewed.  

Main duties and responsibilities 

The Research Assistant will be able to: 

  1. Provide research support to the project and conduct research project independently; 
  2. Provide administrative duties such as maintenance of safety documents and housekeep of wet laboratory and supervise junior research staff or undergraduate students/interns. 
  3. Maintain the highest standard of professional conduct and record keeping in accordance with policies and procedures.  

Qualifications

Qualifications for Research Assistant (RA) 

(a) Bachelor degree or Master of Science degree in life science and biomedical degree for RA.
(b) At least 2 years for RA applicants of cancer research experience and is able to work independently and in a team, have an investigative nature, attention to detail, demonstration of writing scientific papers with list of relevant publication.  
(c) Great skills in cellular/molecular biology and protein chemistry basic techniques including Western Blot, cloning, protein expression and purification, viral transfection, q-RT-PCR, immunoprecipitation, RNA biology, immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry,  FFPE and frozen samples sectioning, confocal microscopy imaging etc 
(d) Candidate with animal experience in mouse model of cancers and familiar with various cancer bioinformatics software/tools to integrate systems biology, clinical science, omics-based technology and computational science to improve diagnosis, therapies and prognosis of cancer are preferable.
