We invite applications for the permanent position of

UNIVERSITY RESEARCHER

at the Mikkeli unit of Ruralia Institute. The field of the position is sustainable economy and cooperatives. In their research, the appointee is expected to focus on the adaptation and change needs of various economic models in response to the sustainability transformation. The aim is to produce high-quality research-based knowledge to support companies and other economic actors in promoting the sustainability transformation as well as in adapting to it.

The duties of the university researcher include not only research work, but also the planning and management of research projects in the field, the provision of university-level teaching, and active public engagement. The goal is to establish a research group with strong national and international networks.

APPOINTMENT CRITERIA

An appointee to the position of university researcher must hold a doctoral degree and have evidence of scientific research, the teaching skills necessary for the position, and the ability to lead a research group and obtain external funding. When selecting the appointee, evidence of productive international cooperation and public engagement will be given particular consideration.

WHAT WE OFFER

The university researcher will take on the role of principal investigator (PI) at the University of Helsinki. The University of Helsinki’s extensive networks and the Ruralia Institute’s multidisciplinary work community and high-quality support services provide a good basis for academic work. We will provide the appointee with the academic freedom to direct their research activities and to develop national and international cooperation. The salary for the position will be based on levels 6–7 of the job requirement scheme for teaching and research positions in the salary system of Finnish universities. In addition, the appointee will be paid a salary component based on personal work performance. The appointee’s gross monthly salary will range from €4,300 to €5,500. There will be a six-month trial period for the position.
