Applications are invited for the post of Lecturer/Assistant Professor in Crop Science in the School of Agriculture & Food Science. The appointee will join the Animal and Crop Science Section and will contribute to both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, conduct high quality research in Crop Science and engage in associated administrative tasks. The appointee will join a highly motivated and research active Crop Science team who are involved with teaching and research in areas including cereal production, root and alternative crops, grassland, plant health, organic agriculture, digital agriculture and bioenergy.

The appointee will be expected to make significant teaching contributions in the broad area of crop agronomy from an Irish, European and global perspective, but will have specific expertise in one or more focused areas such as plant breeding, digital agriculture, crop modelling, smart phenotyping, stress resistance, nutrient efficiency, biostatistics or integrated crop management.

The appointee will contribute to teaching on a number of programmes in the School, particularly at undergraduate level, but also at postgraduate level. Furthermore, the appointee will be required to develop a self-sustaining research programme on their area of expertise and thereby actively contribute to the research output, operation and general academic responsibilities of the Section. They will be expected to work collaboratively with colleagues in the Section, School and University, and represent UCD nationally and internationally in their area of expertise.

The successful candidate will be offered a temporary (3 year) or permanent position based on their experience and trajectory, as determined by the interview board.

Lecturer/Assistant Prof Above The Bar Salary: €54,848- €86,235 per annum
Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines.
