Applications for the post are welcome in any research areas of Computing Science that complement the existing strengths within the School within the general area of the practice of Software Engineering. This includes, but is not limited to software maintenance, software project coordination, requirements engineering, quality assurance, secure software development, AI for software engineering, cloud engineering, DevOps and scientific software engineering.

The School is keen to develop research in partnership with software practitioners, including on the new graduate apprenticeship programme, a work-based learning degree partnering with the local software industry. Hence, candidates whose research begins from the perspective of software practitioners in any domain of application are particularly encouraged to apply.
 
The postholder will develop, lead and sustain research of international standard in Software Engineering; contribute to teaching, assessment, project supervision and curriculum design at undergraduate and postgraduate levels; and participate in School management and organisation
