Job Details

Western Sydney University is a modern, forward-thinking, research-led university, located in the heart of Australia’s fastest growing and economically significant Western Sydney region.

The University has established an interdisciplinary undergraduate and postgraduate program in Architecture with a focus on urban transformation. The graduates of these programmes will possess specialist knowledge and skills related to urban change above and beyond the conventional set of architectural skills, which is underpinned by the University’s vision of an identity and focus which harnesses the possibilities offered by the urban growth and change of Greater Western Sydney.

The Lang Walker Family Foundation has generously provided a significant donation to the University to establish the Lang Walker Chair in Urban Transformation to advance innovation and sustainability in the property, design and delivery spaces.

This prestigious appointment will be located within the School of Engineering, Design and Built Environment and it is also expected to work closely with the School of Social Sciences and the University’s Urban Transformation Theme.

The Schools of Engineering, Design and Built Environment and Social Sciences provide an innovative and dynamic context for creativity which offers both undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including research programs that combine advanced academic knowledge with real-life training to suit a range of career needs and interests in a range of disciplines including Geography, Planning, Heritage and Tourism, Peace and Development Studies, Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering, Advanced Manufacturing and Industrial Design.

The Chair will have the opportunity to shape and refine the postgraduate program as it directly informs, leads, and responds to the region’s dynamic and rapidly changing economic, physical, demographic, cultural, and social landscape.

The University is now seeking an established researcher of international renown with experience in leading curriculum accreditation with relevant professional bodies. Time spent in industry and professional practice experience will be desirable.

For further information and a confidential discussion, please contact Natalie Walker who is advising the University on this appointment.
