We invite applications to join our integrated teaching, research and innovation teams in the Department of Networks and Cybersecurity as an Assistant Lecturer/Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Cybersecurity. We embed Cybersecurity principles and practices into cybersecurity courses on undergrad and postgrad levels. You’ll be joining a well-established course-team with a proven track record of producing skilled and confident graduates who are ready to meet the demands of the Cybersecurity industry. The department’s teaching & learning strategy is aimed to equip students with Cybersecurity skills and knowledge that will boost their employability. The research-and-innovation objective is to enhance the reputation of the School through active engagement with excellent research resulting in high quality outcomes, research-informed teaching, and impactful projects that advance the state of the art within Cybersecurity practice and research.
To support this exciting strategic initiative, the Department of Networks and Cybersecurity has lots of jobs on offer at many different grades and salaries;
Assistant Lecturer £30,831 to £33,512
Lecturer - £37,505 to £40,766
Senior Lecturer -£46,376 to £50,408
Applicants will teach across a variety of different levels, topics and areas such as;
- Cryptography Techniques,
- Artificial Intelligence/ Machine Learning - based approaches to cybersecurity,
- CPS/IoT security,
- Network security or cybersecurity analysis tools,
- Information security and software security,
- Ethical hacking and secure & trustworthy systems.
Priority will be given to candidates with these areas of expertise. Applicants are expected to have a good practical experience in one or more of these subject areas.
Depending on experience, applicants will teach across a variety of different areas, and will be expected to teach at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels from level 4 to level 7 Masters.
For Lecturer Grade and above you will be expected to:
- develop own teaching materials;
- manage learner cohorts;
- teach as a member of the Networks and Cybersecurity team in a variety of settings from small group tutorials to large lectures;
- ensure the efficient delivery of teaching programmes in accordance with the University’s strategy, policy and procedures;
- set and mark assessments and provide constructive feedback to students;
- seek ways of improving performance by reflecting on teaching design and delivery and obtaining and analysing feedback;
- collaborate with colleagues in the Networks and Cybersecurity team to conduct high quality applied research leading to publications in reputable journals and conference proceedings;
- develop external partnerships to support bid writing for research funding.
- apply practical skills in industry through the delivery of training and consultancy;
What you need
- Experience of Cybersecurity in an industry context
- You will be expected to have a PhD or nearing completion i.e. viva pending, or equivalent qualification.
- Applicants who have a Masters qualification and extensive practice experience at managerial level will also be considered.
For roles at a more senior level preference will be given to staff who can demonstrate a research publication track record or a publication pipeline targeting well regarded refereed journals and/or securing research grants and contracts.

Selection and Interview Process
Shortlisted applicants will be contacted and expected to take part in a first phase short screening interview (this may be before the closing date).
Successful applicants will then be invited back to participate in a second phase Assessment Centre process, incorporating a more detailed interview, teaching activity and a team-based activity.
