Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow/Senior Research Assistant in the Department of Urban Planning and Design (Ref.: 503487), to commence as soon as possible for one year, with the possibility of renewal.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in urban planning, transportation engineering, geography, Geographical Information System (GIS) or related fields.  They should have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, the ability to conduct research independently, a good command of written English, and good communication and interpersonal skills. Preference will be given to those with research experience in one or more areas of data integration and information fusion: big-data analytics, statistical models, or GIS analytics; and in one or more areas of impact of (mega) transportation projects:  the relationship between travel demand, public transportation and quality of life, activity-based travel behavior, and travel demand modeling.  Those who have a Master’s degree and at least 1 year’s post-qualification relevant experience may be appointed as Senior Research Assistant.

The appointee will work for research projects related to regional travel demand modelling for the Greater Bay Area, station-level resilience for the local metro system, performance evaluation of transit-oriented development, adaptive travel behaviors amid and post a pandemic, under the supervision of Dr. Jiangping Zhou. He/She is required to conduct research and complete required tasks independently, write technical and research papers, contribute to lead grant writing, and supervise graduate and undergraduate students on the project.
