Research Assistant

Job Description

We are looking for highly driven individuals to join the Department of Pathology, NUS as our research assistant. Our team seeks to understand molecular mechanism underlying drug resistance in breast cancer. Specifically, we seek to achieve mechanistic insights on how Polyaneuploid Cancer Cells (PACCs) may serve as mediators of chemoresistance and disease relapse. Understanding the role of PACC in breast cancer will allow us to identify clinically actionable strategy to curb drug resistance and disease relapse. The scientific team is an interdisciplinary one, comprising of cancer scientists, oncologists, physician–scientists, molecular pharmacologist/xenograft model expert, who will bring their unique expertise and knowledge together to address the research problem. The research assistant will benefit tremendously from the multidisciplinary nature of our team, visibility afforded by affiliation to the NUSMed Cancer Programme (N2CR) and international collaborations. Highly motivated individuals with a passion to understand disease mechanism and to advance personalised and preventive medicine are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Perform experiments involving cell culture, molecular biology, Western immunoblotting, immunohistochemistry, mouse xenograft experiments, etc. 
  • Present research findings at lab meetings and seminars.
  • Contribute to collaborative projects.
  • Assist in lab management.
  • Uphold research integrity and ensure safety compliance.

Qualifications

Required Education:

  • Applicants should possess a BSc in life sciences, biomedical sciences, biochemistry, bioengineering, pharmaceutical sciences or equivalent from a well-recognised university.
  • Experience in molecular and cell biology, biostatistics and/or bioinformatics will be considered favorably.
