Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow in the Emergency Medicine Unit of the LKS Faculty of Medicine (Ref.: 503441), to commence as soon as possible for one to two year(s), with the possibility of renewal.

The Emergency Medicine Unit is building a team of cross-disciplinary clinical and non-clinical scientists to research the grand challenges of this age in acute illness, injury and emergency health service delivery.  Our programmes will address unmet clinical needs in translational research in emergency medicine.  We aim to understand the underlying mechanisms of acute disease, to discover novel clinical and molecular markers, and to develop pragmatic diagnostic and risk-stratification pathways.  Our long-term goals lie in primary prevention, screening and therapeutics.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree preferably in Biological/Biomedical Sciences, Bioinformatics, or a closely related discipline; with an interest in research in the field of emergency medicine. They should have an excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Cantonese), and experience in writing grants and publications. They should also be organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently as well as in a team. The appointee will participate in research projects relating to acute illness and injury (e.g. infectious disease, sepsis, stroke and acute kidney injury).

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.

The University only accept online application for the above post.  Applicants should apply online and upload an up-to-date C.V. (preferably with an academic transcript). Review of applications will start from March 19, 2021 and continue until April 30, 2021, or until the post is filled, whichever is earlier.
