Job Description

The College of Information Technology at the United Arab Emirates University is looking for a good Research Assistant to join the AI & Robotics Lab to do a research in Fisheye-Based Traffic Monitoring Embedded System. The objective of this project is to develop intelligent traffic monitoring system with edge computation on embedded devices using fisheye cameras. The system is aimed to detect vehicles, monitor the traffic flow, predict the traffic jam, and detect abnormal driving patterns at the intersection and roads using our proposed machine learning models trained on in-house collected dataset from fisheye RGB cameras. The candidate should have a bachelor degree and willing to join master degree program at UAEU. The candidate for this position should preferably have a degree in Computer Science, Electronics, or any related field, have excellent abilities in analyzing a problem and finding a solution, learning/adopting new technologies, consistency, working on Python and Machine Learning tools, and good written and verbal communication skills in English. They should be highly motivated to engage in research, be capable of working independently and open to exploratory work which may demand changing directions and picking up new skills on the go as required. Candidates should expect to learn excellent programming skills to develop full-stack application programs in any of the mainstream mobile platforms and exhibit an appetite for building experimental proof of concept systems using open source tools and off the shelf hardware platforms. It is also an expectation that the candidate will contribute towards setting up pilot trials, subsequent scale-up and dissemination of this work. Only short-listed candidates will be contacted.

Minimum Qualification

The candidate for this position should have a bachelor degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Mechatronics, and Communications Engineering or any related field

Preferred Qualification

Machine Learning, Deep learning experience.
