Job Description

The team under the leadership of principal investigator Professor Dean Ho at the N.1 Institute for Health, is currently looking for a research fellow with a PhD in biomedical engineering, clinical research or related fields with strong expertise in data science.

The N.1 Institute of Health (n1labs.org) strives to redefine the landscape of personalised (otherwise known as N-of-1) treatments through technological innovations, such as CURATE.AI - an artificial intelligence platform that has successfully personalised existing therapies for numerous indications such as in oncology and liver transplant. Through its involvement in various interventional studies that have successfully demonstrated life-saving outcomes, N.1 has been part of many multidisciplinary collaborations with experts working in the healthcare system and industry. To date, the projects undertaken by the expanding team have stretched far beyond traditional pharmacological interventions and into fields such as digital health.

The successful candidate will work along with the other team members and report to the CURATE.AI project lead and to the PI.

The responsibilities of the role include:

  • In a team setting, perform all elements of scientific research of developing clinical decision support system (CDSS) and software as medical device (SMD)– technical developments, experimental design, clinical evidence generation and data analysis
  • Communicate and coordinate with a multidisciplinary team of doctors, patients, and researchers
  • Present the findings in research journals, patents and at conferences
  • Engage in the wider research and scholarly activities of the group in biomedical research and healthcare implementation
  • Support science outreach initiatives of the research group and institute

Job Requirements

  • PhD degree in Biomedical Engineering, Bioinformatics, Data Analytics or similar with experience in clinical research OR PhD degree based on clinical research (e.g. clinical oncology, clinical pharmacology) with a strong data science component
  • At least basing coding skills, preferably in Python
  • Understanding of clinical regulatory framework
  • Proven project management skills, including excellent communication, organisational and administrative skills
  • Evidence of research activity (publications, conference presentations, awards)
  • Proven ability to work in a diverse team. Candidates must demonstrate an awareness of equality, diversity and inclusion agenda.
  • At least one year of clinical research experience is needed (inclusive of PhD), and more is recommended.
