TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE 1, Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research-Langer Lab, to work on a highly multidisciplinary team developing specific gastrointestinal targeting strategies for oral drug/nutrient delivery and enabling nutrient absorption management and intestinal microbial manipulation for the pediatric population. Responsibilities will include supporting in vitro drug/nutrient formulation; ex vivo tissue (rodent, pig, and human) work; in vivo oral delivery (e.g., Iron, microbes, etc.) using both small and large animal models; endoscopy/X-ray/fluorescent imaging; polymer/particle synthesis; pill/capsule preparation; and ingestible device fabrication. Other activities include helping other medicinal chemistry efforts in the lab; project planning; reagent procurement and record-keeping; chemical waste monitoring and collection; and ensuring that others comply with established standards, regulations, and laboratory procedures. May train new users in equipment operation and train and coordinate the work with staff, student employees, and/or temporary staff.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED:  B.S. in a relevant scientific field (i.e., bio-engineering, chemical engineering, biochemistry, chemistry, biology); at least two years' specialized experience (which may include experience gained as an undergraduate)  that includes experience working with and maintaining technical instruments/equipment; ability to multitask and organize multiple experiments and work assignments simultaneously and to work both independently and as part of a team; strong time management, communication, and problem-solving skills; and an awareness of basic safety issues and ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment.
