About the position

The Communications Assistant is based within the Bond Newsroom which houses the University’s communications and content creation team.

As the Communications Assistant you will be the first point of contact for the media, attending to all PR and media calls to the University.

Responsibilities include:

  • Generate daily, weekly, and monthly media reports for University faculties and other departments.
  • Assist in the production, organisation and distribution of media releases.
  • Liaise between the University and its media monitoring company.
  • Assist in uploading news content to the University website.
  • Liaise with external media partners.
  • Connect external media partners with University spokespeople.

This position works with a small team of experienced journalists, visual producers, and media advisors in a beautiful lakeside location on the Gold Coast.

This is a part time opportunity and will be offered at 0.6 FTE, hours are to be worked across five mornings.

About the person:

The successful applicant will have media and/or PR experience and be comfortable working in a fast-paced newsroom environment. You will be capable of juggling multiple projects with competing tight deadlines, always with an eye for accuracy and detail. You will also have a natural ability to identify a good story and be a confident communicator who keeps abreast of current affairs.

Experience with the Isentia media monitoring platform will be an advantage.

Salary details:

Remuneration for the appointment is $36,004 plus 9.5% superannuation per annum. Please note this is the 0.6 pro-rata annual salary.
