Research Fellow in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence

Grade 7 (£33,797 - £40,322)

Full-Time, Fixed-Term, 18 month contract (flexible and remote working options available)

The University seeks to appoint a Macmillan Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (AI), within the Division of Games Technology and Mathematics, part of the School of Design and Informatics.

This post is for a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow who will work on the My Cancer mAI Care Project Phase 2, funded by Macmillan Cancer Support. This project is a partnership between Macmillan Cancer Support, Abertay University and the Digital Health and Care Institute, in collaboration with Glasgow City Council, Dundee City Council and the Glasgow School of Art. The project uses anonymized data on persons affected by cancer to create AI-powered decision-support tools for two user groups: one for health and social care professionals, and another for persons affected by cancer.

The Research Fellow at Abertay will be tasked with improving the design, development, deployment and testing of a prototype AI developed in Phase 1 of the project to support delivery of an AI system that helps users to make knowledge-intensive decisions by automating data processing and recommending actions. A key objective of the project is to deliver an AI system ready for integration. The Research Fellow will also work closely with Macmillan Cancer Support to build supporting infrastructure to the core AI system to enable data to flow smoothly between the AI and IT system infrastructure.

The candidate will work both independently and collegiately and be able to demonstrate good interpersonal, organisational and communication skills and have an ability to take initiative. A full candidate brief can be found below which details the job description, person specification and application details.
