Job Description Summary

The Consortium for Policy Research in Education (CPRE) is a community of researchers from renowned research institutions and organizations committed to advancing educational policy and practice through evidence-based research.

Job Description

Duties:

The research specialist is primarily responsible for assisting in the design and execution of quantitative analyses for funded research studies, including efficacy evaluations and large-scale projects with experimental and quasi-experimental designs. The research specialist will supervise research and support staff; establish good working relationships with research partners, research sites, and affiliated organizations; and prepare reports for funders and public release, as well as contribute to reports and articles for publication. In addition, the research specialist will coordinate research with other CPRE researchers; present research findings and represent CPRE at meetings and conferences; and assist in seeking additional grant funding. The position requires a doctorate with substantial coursework in statistics and quantitative methods and experience with experimental, econometric, and quasi-experimental designs and a range of analytic techniques. Facility with one or more statistical package such as Stata, SAS or R is required. Preference will be given to applicants with strong writing skills and experience in randomized control trials and other quantitative specialties. Compensation is commensurate with qualifications and experience and is contingent on continued grant funding.

Qualifications:

Doctorate in education, public policy, or a related field and 1-2 years professional or related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Knowledge and experience with causal, experimental, and correlational research designs required, as well as strong analytical skills and fluency in appropriate statistical analysis software packages. Knowledge of the education field, policy analysis, and or teaching or administrative experience a plus. Excellent writing and communication skills necessary. Management experience strongly preferred.
