TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE 1Picower Institute for Learning and Memory-Sur Lab, to assist with general operational and research related tasks regarding the role of diverse brain regions involved in information processing.  The laboratory utilizes state-of-the-art in vivo imaging techniques and advanced behavioral paradigms to elucidate how cortical circuits involved in learning and memory govern behavioral responses. Initial duties will include conducting behavioral experiments, monitoring the mouse colony, doing maintenance and scheduling of behavior equipment, histology, technical support for lab personnel, administrative tasks such as purchasing and maintaining compliance with MIT regulatory offices, and other duties as assigned.  As skills develop, there is significant potential for becoming increasingly involved in scientific research.

This position is ideal for a motivated and organized individual who is interested in systems-level neuroscience and is interested in conducting innovative and cutting-edge research.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: a bachelor’s degree in psychology, neuroscience, or related field; two years’ post-degree experience in a laboratory setting; excellent oral and written communication skills; and the ability to analyze data and present it in a format suitable for publication. A motivated, highly-organized, and creative thinker who will function effectively in a team-oriented environment. 

PREFERRED:  experience with molecular biology and biochemistry techniques (i.e., western blotting and histology); familiarity with the intricacies of rodent behavior; and experience with behavioral testing, particularly in the mouse. Job #19187
