Bond University is the first private university to be established in Australia and commenced teaching in May 1989. Our campus is located in Robina at a midpoint on the Gold Coast and is in close proximity to residential developments; key infrastructure development; beaches and the Brisbane rail link. Bond is an internationally diverse university, with around 40% of its current student population coming from more than 80 countries. As a private institution, Bond relies primarily on tuition income from full fee paying students to fund its operations and does not receive HECs funding or grant funded places from Government.

The newly created position of Director, Student Success and Wellbeing will provide strategic and operational leadership to several key portfolios which are central to the Bond University student experience, including oversighting the University Library, Learning Services, Career Development Centre, Nyombil Centre and the Medical Clinic. Working under the direction of the University Registrar this position will play an important role to ensure that these aspects of student engagement are carried out in a way which is consistent with the University’s history of providing exceptional care and support to students and ensuring that the quality of the personalised student experience continues to be a distinctive feature of studying at Bond. The incumbent will work closely with those responsible for other aspects of service provision to students, including Bond University’s Student Association.

Other key responsibilities include managing the day-to-day operations of the respective functions, overseeing staff and staff development, managing the annual budget and liaising closely with key stakeholders including Student Associations and Faculty Service Quality Advisers, senior colleagues, academic and professional staff. This position will carry a significant responsibility for the way in which the University engages with its students and will be involved in the planning of key student events including semesterly Orientations.

About the person:

To be considered for this senior leadership role, candidates must be able to demonstrate how they meet the selection criteria contained within the position description. These include but are not limited to:

  • Completion of, or progress toward relevant postgraduate qualifications and demonstrated significant experience and/or knowledge of the higher education and/or health and wellbeing fields.
  • Experience in a customer focussed leadership role at a large organisation, with a demonstrated ability to manage, motivate and develop a team of service professionals.
  • An exceptional track record in line management, and the effective administration of resources and budgets on a large scale across several areas.
  • Knowledge and extensive experience in the higher education sector is preferred.

Remuneration for the appointment is negotiable and will be commensurate with skills and experience. Salary packaging options are available for eligible employees.
