Job Description
One position of Research Engineer (RE) for 36 months (with possible extension) is available from September 1st, 2020 in the group of Asst. Prof. Pieremanuele CANEPA https://www.caneparesearch.org in the vibrant department of Materials Science and Engineering at the National University of Singapore. The RE position is funded through the NRF-Fellowship of Prof. Canepa and is redistricted to Singaporean citizens or permanent residents.
We are looking for an inquisitive candidate with computer science expertise that can bring novel and interdisciplinary momentum to the field of materials informatics, materials science and our group. The RE will be responsible of developing our internal database and other software capabilities, with active contributions in our research. The RE should be familiar with at least one of the following coding languages, i.e., python, C, C++, or FORTRAN. Some familiarity with any database systems (e.g., SQL, MySQL, MariaDB, Oracle, or MongoDB) and the operative system Linux will be considered a plus. The RE will collaborate closely with scientists and PhD students in the research laboratory of Prof. Canepa. The RE will be exposed to the novel discipline of materials informatics. The RE will also cover some administrative roles in the research group.

Qualifications
Desirable candidates should: -
- Hold a bachelor’s in computer science, materials science, physics, or related disciplines by the commencement of employment (ideally, September 1st). Starting dates are negotiable.
- Show proficiency with at least one of the following coding languages: python, C, C++, or FORTRAN.
- Familiarity with any database system, i.e., SQL, MySQL, MariaDB, Oracle, or MongoDB and the operative system Linux will be considered as plus.
- Have interest in learning about materials informatics and computational materials science.
