Job Description

  • The Research Associate will be expected to conduct research related to the “Promoting the AI/IP Interface”project, as appointed by the Centre Director.
  • The Research Associate, concurrently being the project manager for this research project, is required tohandle all aspects of project management work related to this project. Administrative work is part and parcelof this role. Specifically, the RA will liaise with our external partners to ensure that each phase of the projectis completed in the manner described in the project brief, and that the project timetable is maintained.
  • The Research Associate may be required to organize relevant seminars, workshops, and meetings relatedto the project.
  • The Research Associate will be required to supervise and settle the written research output from otherproject staff and to research and write in projects appointed by the Centre Director.
  • The Research Associate will be required to report on a regular basis to the Project Management Committeeconcerning the development of key project phases.

Qualifications

  • Postgraduate degree in law or related fields 
  • The candidate should possess research experience in law and technology, particularly in legal, ethical andpolicy issues arising from the use of AI, or any other social science discipline with research skills and training inmethodology and policy, with a demonstrated record of research output in the form of refereed journal articlesor conference papers, or other forms of research dissemination evidencing abilities to analyse andcommunicate. High level writing and editorial skills are, therefore, required. At least a rudimentaryunderstanding of intellectual property law and policy would be an advantage. An interest in comparativeresearch in the relevant context is an advantage but not mandatory. Project management skills will also berequired in the form of evidence that the candidate has worked in similar research teams.
