ASSISTANT DEAN FOR DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSIONSchool of Science, to advise the dean and members of Science Council on matters related to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), including defining strategic priorities and developing and implementing policies to advance the school’s commitment to DEI. Will provide strategic leadership; assist the dean with crafting and presenting development opportunities to potential philanthropic/foundation/corporate partners; identify, implement, communicate, and help entrench best practices; conceive, develop, and oversee DEI programs/activities/initiatives to educate the community and increase diversity; gather and analyzed data and establish metrics; act as a resource to recruitment and pipeline-building programs; devote particular attention to the experiences of students; and handle a variety of other duties as directed. 

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree (advanced degree preferred) in related field; ten years’ relevant and related experience; track record of advancing DEI and handling change management in complex, mission‐driven organizations; deep understanding of and expertise with issues of race, sexuality, gender, disability, indigeneity, class, and the dynamics of difference, privilege, and power; familiarity with student services, pipeline initiatives, and enrollment management practices designed to support the recruitment, retention, and graduation of students of diverse backgrounds; understanding of evolving issues and demographic trends impacting higher education; ability to foster dialogue, grow support for new initiatives, and facilitate change; extensive knowledge of and ability to strengthen diversity, inclusion, and cultural competency programs, training, and best practices across multiple constituencies in higher education; appreciation of the importance of research-derived, evidence-based solutions; excellent administrative, analytical, organizational, communication, interpersonal, managerial, and problem-solving skills; good judgment and tact in sensitive situations; ability to work collaboratively and generate enthusiasm and support for DEI plans/goals. Job #19018-13
