Our vision is to inspire students for success and build a better society through engaged social science. Continuing our investment in new talent, we are now seeking Research Assistant Professors to contribute to the Faculty Niche Research Area in “Smart Societies”. Successful candidates will be housed in one of our seven discipline-based Departments (Education Studies, Geography, Government & International Studies, History, Social Work, Sociology, and Sport, Physical Education & Health).

Research Assistant Professor (Populations & Wellbeing) (PR0210/20-21)

The appointees are expected to conduct original research in one or more indicative theme areas outlined below, and contribute to department-based teaching. Applicants should possess a relevant doctoral degree or equivalent qualifications with strong potential in research.

Environmental & Urban Systems (PR0209/20-21): Environmental Health, Climate Change, Pollution and Environmental Impacts, Urban Environmental Governance, Social Sustainability, Planetary Urbanisation, Heritage, and Smart Cities.

Populations & Wellbeing (PR0210/20-21): Family Studies, Social Policy, Migration, Ethnic and Racial Studies, Social Capital and Community Development, Digital Divide, Physiological and Psychological Health, Active and Healthy Ageing, Cognitive Stimulation, Youth Active and Healthy Lifestyle Development, AI and Big Data for Health, Social Services Research and Promotion.

Learning, Praxis & Governance (PR0211/20-21): Education Science, Cognitive Science, Applications of Information and Communications Technology to Learning and Professional Practices, Data Analytics Applications, and e-Governance.

Initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of two to three years commencing June 2021. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
