The EWA-BELT project aims to evaluate new innovations with farmers in East and West Africa.  This post will involve evaluating the economic impact of new innovations to be trialled and tested in West and East African countries.  More specifically, it will involve identifying how new or improved crops, land uses, agricultural practices, plant protection technologies, and integrated pest management approaches perform from an economic and social perspective for farmers and along the value chain. 

You will have a PhD (or close to completing) in applying economic analysis in agriculture, land use, or ecosystem services evaluation, with demonstrable applied experience in quantitative economic research.  You will be motivated to use existing and new quantitative economic modelling tools to assess the innovations, and to also use social science methods, particularly to identify how practical the proposed innovations are from a farmer perspective and to understand whether and how they can work within the value chain.
