We are looking for a Research Fellow in children’s immersive storytelling to join the StoryFutures’ team. The role is specifically attached to the StoryFutures China project, designed to develop new immersive experiences through R&D that can enable economic and cultural exchange with partners in Shanghai.

The post holder will integrate the work of StoryFutures China with the wider StoryFutures projects, linking to a range of projects involving immersive experiences being developed for and with children and young people. The role involves working with high profile creative industries partners including The National Gallery, Shanghai Science and Technology Museum, Foremost Media Group, BBC, Roald Dahl Children’s Charity and more.

The Research Fellow will work as part of a wider Audience Insight team including psychologists, engineers and ethnographers. Ideally the post holder will be comfortable with mixed methods, including qualitative and quantitative approaches, bringing specific experience around children and young people to the project team. An understanding of Mandarin, Chinese cultures, and/or of immersive technologies is an advantage.

The Centre for Digital Creativity is a fast-paced, dynamic and multi-disciplinary environment.

Further duties will include supporting research organizations in immersive production outputs, including file formatting, workflow management, proof reading copy and relevant clearance work to ensure final immersive productions are ready for publication as a part of the project.

Utilising appropriate research methods for conducting research with children, the successful candidate will work collaboratively with other members of the Audience Insight team and the project design and delivery teams to develop and conduct iterative research on these projects. Experience of conducting research in intercultural contexts, particularly with China, is highly desirable.

This is a part time role (3 days/week) on a fixed term contract from 01 February 2021, or as soon as possible thereafter, until 31st July 2021.

In return we offer a highly competitive rewards and benefits package including:
