Full-time, permanent

The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering continues to grow and as a consequence we are advertising for three additional academics, one of which is in the area of Engineering Design.

The ideal candidate will be on track to becoming an outstanding researcher, doing innovative research which complements that being pursued in the Department. You will have emerging international recognition and a significant number of high-quality publications in top journals. You will have potential to attract research funding from government and/or industrial sources. Our aim is to grow our research portfolio and you will be expected to take a major role in achieving that goal.

We are interested in applications from candidates whose research is in a field of engineering design, we are not prescriptive as to the branch and welcome applications from all.

The role will afford the successful candidate the opportunity to work with colleagues in delivering taught courses in for example CAD, CAE, design of robotic mechanisms and major design projects. The latter includes those organised by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) such as Formula Student, the Design Challenge and UAS (Unmanned Aerial Systems) Challenge. Brunel has a long and successful history in competing in IMechE competitions.

The academic appointment at the Senior Lecturer or Lecturer level will depend on experience of the applicants.  The role will be based primarily at the University’s main site in Uxbridge and you may be required to travel to our other site near Cambridge and in both the UK and abroad.
For informal enquiries, please contact:  Professor D J Mynors, Diane.Mynors@brunel.ac.uk, Head of Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Brunel University London.

Closing date for applications: Saturday 12 December 2020

For full details and how to apply see: www.brunel.ac.uk/about/jobs

Candidates should be available for interviews on both 19 and 20 January 2021.
