Role Description

Cranfield University Professional Service Unit, Student Experience is made up of a number of teams including Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL).  TEL welcomes applications from learning designers with significant experience in developing designs for master’s level, executive development in face to face, mixed and online delivery methods.

As the UK’s only exclusively postgraduate university, Cranfield’s world-class expertise, large-scale facilities and unrivalled industry partnerships is creating leaders in technology and management globally.  Our distinctive expertise is in our deep understanding of technology and management and how these work together to benefit the world.

Our people are our most valuable resource and everyone has a role to play in shaping the future of our university, developing our learners, and transforming the businesses we work with. Learn more about Cranfield and our unique impact here. Our shared, stated values help to define who we are and underpin everything we do: Ambition; Impact; Respect; and Community. Find out more here.

The academic activity of the University is supported by a wide range of professional service units (PSUs) and departments.  The Student Experience PSU is focused, innovative and committed to enhancing the experience of our students.  The PSU itself brings together a number of essential student services such as: Library, Student Advice Centre, Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL), Centre for Andragogy and Academic Skills, Careers, Masterships and the Student Association.  These key service areas work to ensure an increasingly collaborative and focused approach to enhancing the student experience at Cranfield.  TEL works closely with all schools and the learning designer role will be embedded within one of the three schools on Cranfield campus, working with the academics on the course and programme design.

The Learning Designer (LD) is responsible for designing and developing learning interventions that meet the needs of the schools and their clients by working closely with academics and other key stakeholders.

The LD will be responsible for developing a range of learning products and course pathways, that can be delivered face to face, online or in a blended mode.  The current focus is on the design of courses that will enhance the student experience during a time where students could be in multiple locations.

To be successful in this role you will require previous experience in a learning design role, preferably with a focus on master level education and have significant experience developing online material and programmes.  It is essential that the post-holder is a good communicator and problem solver.

At Cranfield we value Diversity and Inclusion, and aim to create and maintain a culture in which everyone can work and study together harmoniously with dignity and respect and realise their full potential.

We actively consider flexible working options such as part-time, compressed or flexible hours and/or an element of homeworking, and commit to exploring the possibilities for each role. Find out more here.
