Job description
As a Lecturer in Mental Health Nursing (Education), you will be on the Academic Education Pathway (AEP), and expected to contribute to field specific and generic modules. You will have responsibility along with other colleagues for teaching, student support, practice learning, and contributing to the new curriculum for the BSc (Hons) and MSc in Mental Health Nursing. You will also be expected to accept Faculty academic citizenship roles. The role will have an 80% education focus.

This is an opportunity for candidates who wish to further their career in education or move into a higher education teaching role. We are seeking innovative, creative people keen to undertake or further develop scholarly activity to foster a culture of exploration, discovery and intellectual challenge that contributes to generating international recognition, respect and engagement. Clinical credibility and a willingness to develop and deliver high quality simulated practice will be expected.

We particularly welcome applications from individuals who have experience in working in one or more of the following areas: dementia care/care of older people, learning disability, community care, and/or secure mental health care. A track record of publication and contribution to education research would be advantageous although these can be developed within the probationary period.

As a Registered Nurse - Mental Health you will be a passionate advocate for optimising mental health, have a keen interest in developments in the field, and be committed to enthusing the next generation of mental health nurses.

The Department of Mental Health Nursing is diverse and close-knit. As a team, we believe that there is no health without mental health, and we work relentlessly to change the way people understand the relationship between body and mind. Many members of the department have national and international recognition as world leaders in their field of practice and have been selected for fellowship of various learned societies and academies. We strive to celebrate diversity, promote inclusivity and display compassion and empathy to craft an atmosphere where students appreciate their potential to learn and are excited about learning, so they can begin to realise their role, responsibility and capacity to take charge of their own lifelong education.

We welcome interest from candidates who share our vision of delivering high quality, inclusive nursing education in a dynamic healthcare economy and who are enthusiastic about patient focussed, evidenced based care.

This post will be offered on an indefinite contract.
