LIBRARY PARTNERSHIPS AND SALES ASSOCIATEMIT Press (MITP), to work on academic library market engagement for MITP content, supporting the library partnerships and sales lead. Will foster relationships with library partners; collaborate on implementing sales strategy using data-informed approaches; stay connected to trends in the market; and work across departments and in close coordination with customer service to address and solve library-related challenges in content discovery, delivery, and access.  Responsibilities include managing inside sales for library accounts; working with international academic libraries, consortia, and corporate and public library accounts to maintain and grow sales; employing a variety of sales techniques, including cold calls and email campaigns, to obtain new sales and develop customer relationships; preparing/managing sales and usage data and reports on digital products; managing quotes and proposals for select customers; developing and following up on sales leads; handling librarians’ queries; managing/tracking renewals for the MIT Press Direct ebooks platform; collaborating with customer service to ensure positive relationship development with the library market and with institutional marketing to develop campaigns to drive growth for institutional facing products; providing support for conference and other presentations to the library market; staying connected to developments/trends in the library market; meeting annual sales targets; and other duties as needed. 

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: high school diploma or its equivalent; at least five years’ administrative and/or sales experience and at least three in publishing, preferably in sales with the academic library market; data management and analysis skills; and ability to focus on detail while seeing the bigger picture, work independently and cross-departmentally, understand the varying needs of differing teams, and remain solutions focused.
