Academy Professor Johanna Mappes’s research group at the Faculty of Biological and Environmental Sciences, University of Helsinki invites applications for:

LABORATORY COORDINATOR

To a permanent position starting 16th November 2020 or by mutual-agreement.

The main tasks would be coordinating and being in charge of insect cultivations, mainly butterflies, and assisting in sample-taking, preparation of samples and also field- and laboratory work.

The successful candidate should have a B.Sc. or M.Sc,. in life sciences or have a basic understanding of biology and insects. The successful candidate is expected to have interest in research, experience in laboratory work and have good skills in using basic computing programs. The candidate should have good communication skills in both Finnish and English and the ability to manage an ensemble of tasks at the same time. We also appreciate flexilibilty and the ability to work independently, but also as a part of a group.

The salary is based on level 7-9 of the job requirement scheme for other personnel in the salary system of the University of Helsinki. In addition, the appointee will be paid a salary component based on personal work performance. The position includes a 6 month trial period.
