Research Fellow in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics & Machine Learning

The Transcription and Chromatin Regulation Laboratory is recruiting a talented and motivated Research Fellow in computational biology or data analytics who is interested in developing machine learning approaches to study the changes of genomic and epigenomic profiles (e.g. enhancer-gene interactions) during cancer progression. We are a team of experimental and computational biologists at the School of Biological Sciences, NTU who are focused on elucidating the enhancer reprogramming and chromatin dynamics during cancer development. The overall goal of our funded projects is to uncover the impact of oncogenic/inflammatory mediators and non-coding RNAs on enhancer regulation, leading to the activation of cancer driver genes (Nature Cell Biology 2015, 17: 1327-38; PNAS 2016, 113: 14402-07; Nature Communications 2018, 9: 3183).

The successful candidate should be experienced in working with a variety of genomics data including RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq and Hi-ChIP and possess a keen interest in developing algorithms or bioinformatics pipelines for multi-omics data integration. Prior knowledge in cancer biology or chromatin regulation will be highly advantageous.

We are looking for exceptional candidates with:

  • A recent PhD graduate (or 1-2 years postdoc experience) in the relevant areas of computational biology, bioinformatics, computer science or data analytics;
  • Strong programming skills in R and/or Python;
  • Prior experience with next-generation-sequencing data analysis for at least 1 or 2 of the above genomics datasets;
  • Demonstrate a keen interest in machine learning and integrative multi-omics analysis;
  • Track record of peer-reviewed publications in relevant disciplines will be advantageous;
  • Ability to write/contribute to research articles and keep well-organized scientific documentation;
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills;
  • A strong team focus and ability to work independently;
  • A demonstrated ability to supervise PhD students and junior research staff is a plus;
  • Able to work and collaborate well with experimental biologists and clinicians.

An attractive remuneration package (with health insurance and other benefits) that is commensurate with the qualifications and relevant experience of the successful candidate will be provided.

Only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
