Job description

These newly created, two-year posts aim to provide an opportunity for development for those wishing to progress to academic lectureship.

Having already demonstrated the potential to generate high quality research, this 2-year opportunity will be a blend of both practical on the job teaching and research experience championed by dedicated mentorship and support from Senior Academics within the School of EEECS.

The Role

The expectation is that the role involves teaching a range of modules under the supervision of the programme lead, at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. The role will also offer experience in supervising both undergraduate and postgraduate student projects while contributing to the evolvement of connected learning tools and widening participation activities within the School. This role as a pathway to a Research and Education lectureship will see successful candidates continuing to undertake an active research portfolio in Computer Science aimed at developing high quality impactful outputs in the coming years.

Applications are welcomed from any Computer Science discipline aligned with the School’s Research Themes; in particular, areas such as artificial intelligence, data analysis and cyber security (software). Preference will be given to applicants who can contribute to the teaching of Computer Science through digital learning for our education provision.

The successful candidates must have:

• 2:1 Honours degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, specifically, areas relating to artificial intelligence, data analysis and cyber security (software) or closely related discipline.
• Hold or be about to obtain a PhD in Computer Science, specifically, areas relating to artificial intelligence, data analysis and cyber security (software) or closely related discipline.
• Publication record in peer reviewed/referred journals or invited presentations that are REF returnable at international level commensurate with stage of career.
• Evidence of high-quality research in a relevant field of Computer Science commensurate with stage of academic career.  Specifically, in areas of artificial intelligence, data analysis and cyber security (software).
• Evidenced ability to support the delivery of modules through innovative teaching and assessment methods within the School’s Computer Science education portfolio, especially within the areas of artificial intelligence, data analysis and cyber security (software)

Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but, in particular circumstances, may be renewed or made permanent, subject to availability of funding.
