At TU Dresden, Faculty of Psychology, the Collaborative Research Centre CRC 940 ‘Volition and Cognitive Control’ offers a position as

(Subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to

salary group E 13 TV-L)

starting at the next possible date for two years. The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz–WissZeitVG). The position entails 65 % of the fulltime weekly hours and aims at obtaining further academic qualification. An extension of the period of employment is possible.

The CRC aims at investigating cognitive mechanisms and neural systems that underlie the ability to exert volitional control over one’s actions and how these control processes are impaired in mental disorders. The goal of the Project (C6) is to examine cognitive control as transdiagnostic construct for impulsive and compulsive disorders (https://tu-dresden.de/bereichsuebergreifendes/sfb940/research/c-dysfunktionen/c6).

Tasks: The candidate will work in the Project ‘Cognitive control as transdiagnostic construct for impulsive and compulsive disorders and its relation to self-control’ and will be responsible for participant recruitment, data acquisition, and data analysis. The project will examine individuals with alcohol use disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder and collect behavioral and EEG data. The candidate will work with Prof. Dr. Tanja Endrass and Dr. Raoul Dieterich and will closely collaborate with other projects of the CRC.

Requirements: University degree (diploma or master) in psychology, clinical psychology or cognitive neuroscience; a strong interest in cognitive and/or clinical neuroscience; background or interest in electrophysiological methods; fluent English and German.

The CRC and TU Dresden provide an excellent scientific environment. The Chair of Addiction Research has access to the Neuroimaging Centre (equipped with fMRI, EEG, TMS, eye tracking facilities) and to the TU Dresden high-performance computing clusters.

Questions regarding the project and position as well as applications should be addressed to Prof. Tanja Endrass (tanja.endrass@tu-dresden.de).

Applications from women are particularly welcome. The same applies to people with disabilities.

Please send your application including a meaningful, 1-page letter regarding motivation and interests, a CV, certificates, and contacts of two potential referees via the TU Dresden SecureMail Portal https://securemail.tu-dresden.de by sending it as a single PDF document to gilda.ender@tu-dresden.de or by mail to: TU Dresden, Fakultät Psychologie, Institut für Klinische Psychologie und Psychotherapie, Professur für Suchtforschung, Frau Prof. Dr. Tanja Endrass, Helmholtzstr. 10, 01069 Dresden. The deadline for application is 05.11.2020 (stamped arrival date of the university central mail service applies). Please submit copies only, as your application will not be returned to you. Expenses incurred in attending interviews cannot be reimbursed.
