Chief of Medical Service
The Michael J. Crescenz Philadelphia VA Medical Center (PVAMC) and the Department of Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for an Associate or Full Professor position in the non-tenure clinician educator track. Applicants must have an MD or MD/PhD degree. Board certification in Internal Medicine and/or a Medical Specialty is required. Academic rank will be commensurate with experience. U.S. citizenship is required by the PVAMC for appointment to this position.
We are seeking candidates for the position of the Chief of the Medical Service at the Michael J. Crescenz Philadelphia VA Medical Center. The PVAMC is a large tertiary care medical center co-located and affiliated with the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine. It and the University of Pennsylvania are intimately joined to fulfill the VA’s mission of providing the highest quality of care to our Nation’s Veterans, to the education of the rising generation of health professionals and to the advancement of medical knowledge. The incumbent will have a joint appointment at both the PVAMC and the Department of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Responsibilities at the VA include oversight of inpatient care and of the medical subspecialty programs, including medical subspecialty clinics; education of residents, fellows, and students rotating on the Medical Service, and advancement of scholarship. The incumbent will be expected to collaborate with other clinical and administrative leaders at the PVAMC to expand and sustain a climate of excellence in all missions. Duties at Penn will be agreed upon between the PVAMC and Department of Medicine leaderships.
Candidates should possess leadership experience and a distinguished record of original research; strong clinical and educational skills; a demonstrated commitment to clinical, academic, and scholarly missions; and proven excellence in mentorship, leadership, and administration.
