Description
The Division of General Internal Medicine in the Department of Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for several Instructor positions in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Applicants must have an M.D. or equivalent degree. Board certified/board eligible in general internal medicine is required.

Responsibilities may include clinical work on non-resident, acute care hospital services and may also include specialized populations such as long-term acute care hospital (LTACH) service, or consults/surgical co-management. Limited time on general medicine teaching services may be available for strong candidates with prior teaching experience. Core practice sites are the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, and Good Shepherd Penn Partners/Penn Institute for Rehabilitation Medicine.

The successful applicant will have an opportunity to practice advanced medicine in a complex and diverse patient population, and benefit from Penn’s robust mentorship and faculty development programs and rich opportunities in quality/process improvement, informatics, medical education, and health care innovation.

One of the letters of recommendation should be from a supervisor (residency program director or clinical service chief); the other two should be from faculty who can comment specifically on a candidate’s clinical excellence.

We seek candidates who embrace and reflect diversity in the broadest sense. The University of Pennsylvania is an EOE. Minorities/women/individuals with disabilities/protected veterans are encouraged to apply.
